Opportunities for Post-Graduate Study

Post-graduate study (Masters and/or Doctor of Philosophy) within the Soft Matter Chemistry Group at The University of Tasmania is only possible thorugh a direct application for postgraduate study at the university. To do this, please click here: http://www.utas.edu.au/research/degrees/scholarships

Before initiating an application for post-graduate study, it is important that you contact Dr Stuart Thickett directly via email. Please include in your correspondence an up to date curriculum vitae (CV) with at least two academic references. Please also provide a PDF copy of any Honours or Masters thesis you have completed. There is an expectation that you have a background in polymer chemistry and physical chemistry (i.e. surface chemistry, emulsions and colloids, kinetics).

International applicants will be required to meet a specific English language requirement. This is a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 across all areas (see: http://www.utas.edu.au/research/degrees/what-is-a-research-degree for more details).

Numerous scholarships are available for both domestic and international applicants. These include both fee scholarships as well as cost-of-living scholarships.

Post-Doctoral Fellowships

At the current time I have no funding to accommodate post-doctoral fellows in the Soft Matter Chemistry group.

I welcome post-doctoral applicants who have the ability to be self-funded (i.e. those who have a fellowship which provides salary). Please note also that international applicants must have the right to work in Australia.

Some example fellowships that may be worth exploring include:

(please note that a DECRA application requires strategic support from the University).
